One of the programs we offer at the After School Program is Altar Server Training. The children are taught how to serve at the Mass, not just by going through the motions, but to know what it really means to serve God on the altar. There are even opportunities for the children who are eager to serve but haven't received their First Communion yet; they can help with putting out the candles after benediction, putting the bells away, and carrying items into the sacristy. If you have any children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, consider having them become altar servers.
